Reading post 2

It is a very surprising experience to get to know John Cage, because this is a composer, I did not understand at first, but enjoyed listening to later on. Personally, it really helped me to understand his art pieces after finish reading this article. To me, John Cage believes that music is everywhere. What we considered as noise, could be interesting art pieces for him.

After reading this article, I applied myself into one of the audiences during John Cage's concert and asked myself a question. How would I respond to John Cage's work if I heard his music? I relistened to his music on YouTube, and my answer was that if I had to pay for this concert, I would be paranoid. And I would be very angry because this does not sound like music to me. Even now, I still do not agree with John Cage about his music being 'music'. I do not believe that music should be unorganized sounds. To me, music should be something very organized, and designed carefully, like a classical music concert.

However, disagreeing with John Cage does not mean I think his music are 'junks', it did not go that far. Despite the fact that I do not think his works are music, I do find myself enjoying listening to his work. His work has the effect of 'white noise', like the sound of rain, it calms me down and gives me room for imagination.
